Investigate
Professor Matthias Mann has made it his life’s works to investigate the human proteome: the composition of proteins in the human organism. Mann is Scientific Coordinator of PROSPECTS, based at the Max Planck Institute of Biochemistry in Martinsried, Germany. He wants to find out which proteins are produced in the different types of cell and how they are organised so that the cell can function well.

Function well
As explained on the www.HorizonHealth.eu project page of PROSPECTS, proteins govern practically all biological processes. Identifying proteome changes will improve our ability to diagnose and treat the diseases facing European citizens.
